What is a Periodontist?
A Periodontist is a dentist who specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal disease and in the placement of dental implants. In addition, they can perform cosmetic periodontal procedures to help you achieve the smile you desire.

Dr. Taylor has received extensive training, including three additional years of education beyond dental school to learn the scientific background and the most effective techniques to diagnose and treat periodontal disease.

How Is A Patient Referred To Dr. Taylor?
While many patients are referred to us by their general dentist, we are happy to have you refer yourself, a friend or family member. We know our excellent reputation and continued success depends on two things: the quality of results and what people say about us. What Can I Expect When I First Visit Dr. Taylor?
Your initial consultation is scheduled for 90 minutes. It begins with an x-ray and preliminary evaluation and discussion. With this information Dr. Taylor will explain your treatment alternatives and together you will decide what the appropriate course of action will be.

How Much Will Treatment Cost?
During your initial consultation, Dr. Taylor will develop a treatment plan designed specifically for you. Since people have different wants and needs, there is no single treatment that is best. Some people want state-of-the-art treatment, regardless of cost. Others may be constrained by insurance and other financial issues. Still some may want the treatment that takes the least amount of time. The cost of your treatment will depend on your individual needs.

What is the Relationship Between My Dentist and Dr. Taylor?
Your dentist and Dr. Taylor work together as a team to provide you with the best possible care. They will combine their experience to formulate the best treatment plan for you while keeping each other informed about your progress. When you have completed your treatment with Dr. Taylor, he will refer you back to your general dentist but may also see you periodically for follow-up care and periodic maintenance treatment. Please remember that the most important member of the treatment team is you. Your interest, participation and commitment are essential to the success of your treatment.

Will I feel pain or discomfort during the procedure?
Dr. Taylor uses new treatment techniques, including laser therapy, to perform many procedures comfortably with local anesthesia. Improvements in medications for anxiety and pain control, and, in some cases, IV sedation are also available to make your treatment more pleasant and comfortable.

What can I expect after treatment?
The recovery is specific for the type of procedure you undergo. Your post operative care and instructions will be thoroughly reviewed with you prior to your procedure so you’ll know what to expect. Rest assured, Dr. Taylor is available after hours if a need should arise.
